On this page is a selection of works from what I'm currently calling the "No Master" series. Over the past five years I have made over a thousand observational studies of a single white bedsheet using phalo blue oil paint over a red acrylic ground. To do this I utilize a traditional "underpainting" technique wherein I wipe away the resultant image with my finger wrapped in a cotton cloth. Over time I "stitch" these studies together into a seamless composition. A part of the canvas in each painting is left untouched.
